\(\frac{-1}{x}=-7\)Multiply by x on both sides first so that we get rid of that pesky variable in the denominator.
\(-1=-7x\)Divide by -7 on both sides.
\(\frac{1}{7}=x\)The only forbidden value for x is 0 because that would result in a division-by-0 error. This is a valid solution.

-1 / x   =  -7

Note  that we can write this as

-1 / x   =  - 7 / 1          flip the fractions over

x / -1   =   1 / -7           multiply both sides by -1

x / 1  =  1 / 7

x   =  1 / 7

cool cool cool
