For me, it's easier when I am using whole numbers, so I would find the percentage of 470m out of 1230m.

Divide the part (470m) by the whole (1230m) to get a decimal value, then multiply by 100 to get a percentage.

Because it has a plus sign, it cannot be factored using only real numbers.

If you can use imaginary numbers (complex numbers), it can be factored as ( x +√(-6) )·( x - √(-6) )

which is ( x + i√6 ) ( x - i√6 ).

Replace x with -3:

f(-3) =4(-3)²-5 = 4(9)-5 =36-5 =31

(2x)² = (2x) · (2x) = (2·2) · (x·x) = 4x²

However, this really isn't "a power to a power".

An example of a power to a power is  (x³)² which becomes (x³)·(x³) which is (x·x·x)·(x·x·x)=x^6.

Rule: when taking a power to a power, multiply the exponents.
