Ya just have to 'derive' it from the information given and an understanding of what functions (f(x))= .... mean unless you are actually GIVEN the function like (for example) f(x) = x^2 +3x -1
I think you are given F (-2) in the point (-2,2) i.e. '2'
(x sqrt x^3)^4
= (sqrt(x^5)^4
= (x^(5/2))^4
= x^20/2 = x^10
(17y+2) / 5 - (5-3y)/3 "cross" multiply
(17y+2)(3)/(5*3) - (5-3y)(5)/(5*3)
= (51y+6 -25+15y)/15
= (66y - 19)/15
F = 9/5 C + 32 SInce we want F = C sub this in
F = 9/5 F + 32
- 4/5 F = 32
F = -5/4 (32) = -5/4*32 = -40
A lot of people just happen to know this: -40 C = -40 F
