We have the equation of a line, here. Let's do a bit of rearranging.......we have
17x+21y+11=0 subtract 17x and 11 from both sides...this gives
21y = -17x -11 divide by 21 on both sides
y = (-17/21) - 11/21
This is a line with a slope of (-17/21) and a "y intercept" of -11/21
Here's the graph:
This can't be solved because there is only one equation and two unknowns.
The best I can do is to graph it.

This is a bit off topic from the question, but what website/software do you use to make those graphs? It might be usefull for answerng questions sometime.
Or better yet, make a post about how to do it, and put it in Melody's "Information pages worth keeping or developing!"
It's called "Desmos Graphing Calculator," ND......easy to use.......here's the link :
https://www.desmos.com/calculator
You can use the Tiny Pic upload service to transfer a pic into a question....there are some instructions on how to do this in the "Information for New People" under the "Sticky Topics"......don't worry.... if I can do it, ANYONE can !!
You can do it on this site and I suppose we should but it is a bit 'clunky'. I think that is Alan's term.
I usually use Desmos (It is a beautiful graphing program)

ND......I don't find the on-site grapher very intuitive..... I've never been able to figure it out.....Desmos is DEFINITELY the way to go!! It produces a way "cleaner" graph, too.
Another site.....WolframAlpha can produce some nice graphs, too......I've copied some of these into the posts.....sometimes they stay there.....sometimes they don't......I don't remember if I've tried the Tiny Pic thing with it, or not.....
Anyway, that Wolfram site has a lot of cool math capabilities....you should check it out!! Just type in what you want to do and it will take you to the correct page....for example....typing in "algebra" brings up a whole array of stuff you can do.....I've bookmarked some of the pages I use most often......

Thanks for that for graph and Wolfram links, these look interesting and usefull!
I haven't really been able to figure out the graphs on this site myself.
By the way, abit off topic but is your name/nickname Chris? I've seen some people calling you that and was a bit curious. :)
