A box measures 7cm in width, 12cm in length, and 3cm in height. The height is tripled to 9cm to produce a larger box. Which phrase accurately describes the volume of the second box in relation to the first box ?

I don't see any phrases, but the effect is to triple the volume.

To see this, divide the "new" dimensions by the "old."

(7 * 12 * 9) / (7 * !2 * 3)     =    3 times as much volume !!!
