A wooden ball has a surface of about 531square centimeters. What is the radius of the wooden ball in centimeters? Round to the nearest tenth.

Since the ball is a sphere, its surface area is given by

SA = 4*pi*r2        So we have

531 = 4*pi*r2      Divide on both sides by 4*pi....we have

531/(4*pi) = r2    Take the square root of both sides

r ≈ 6.5 cm
