if a word count is 3,500 and the word limit is 10% over, how many words is it?

Let the limit = x.  The (x) + (10% of x) = 3500.

In "math" form we have..

x +.10x = 3500

1.10x = 3500    divide by 1.10 on both sides

x = 3500/ 1.10

x ≈ 3182 words
