Let her age now be= x ..... and let her father's age now be y
So
(x - 4)4 = y - 4 → 4x - 16 = y - 4 → 4x - y = 12 (1)
(x - 3)3 = y - 3 → 3x - 9 = y - 3 → 3x - y = 6 (2)
Multiplying (2) by -1 and adding it to the first, we have
x = 6 and that's Kate's age now
And solving for y, we have
4(6) - y = 12
y = 12 and that's her "father's" age now
This doesn't actually make sense......maybe it would make more sense if it were her brother.....but...
The math works out.....
