And then state what it can be.

1. What is the gradient of y=5x+4
2. How do you know if 2 lines are perpendicular ? (m ₁*m ₂ = -1
3. What is the gradient of a line perpendicular to y=5x+4
4. What is the equation of a line that is perpendicular to y=5x+4 (There are lots of answers, the one with a y intercept of 0 might be a smidge easier to rearrange.)
5. Take it all to the left side and put equal to 0 and then you are finished.

Try these steps and tell us when you get stuck.

Marshall:
The aspect ratio of a tv screen is the ratio of width to height of the image. A regular TV has an aspect ratio of 4:3. Find the height and width of a 42in. Tv screen to the nearest tenth of an inch. (the measure given is the length of the diagonal across the screen.)

3,4,5 is a pythagorean triad so

42/5 = width/3
and
42/5 = length/4

EDITED: David is right, I put them the wrong way around. (I havent changed them because David has already answered the question properly)

A "wide screen" TV has an aspect ratio of 16:9. find the length of a diagonal on a wide screen TV screen that has the same height as the screen from my previous question.

If I made $555 in two days and worked 1 hour one day and 1.25 hours the next day then how much money did i make each day?

You earned $555 for 2.25hours (or is that 2 hours and 25 minutes, which is different?)

So dollars /hour is 555/2.25

You can probably finish it now.

how the heck do you write 14*51 using the freaking DISTRIBUTIVE property?

The distributive law says that a(b+c) = ab + ac
so maybe what your teacher wants is

14*51 = 14*50 + 14*1
or
14*51 = 14*50 + 14*1 = 10*50 + 4*50 + 14*1

This is a trig question. Draw the picture.
labe the 3 sides as adj, opp and hyp
decide which ratio you need
set up an equation
solve it.
