I just want to add a little

2 ^X = 3
You can just take the log of both sides using any base. You calc deals with base 10 and base e so I'd choose one of those.
log 2 ^X = log 3
X*log 2 = log 3

x = log3 / log2
and then you can estimate it from your calc.

Using change of base rule these two answers are identical.

If it is a serious question then you just put one under the other like with any normal addition.
The only thing you have to remember with decimals is that you have to line up the decimal points.

It is the number fanchised divided by the total number that is true.

but then you need to multiply the answer by 100 and put a % sign.

A much better title would be Negative indices or negative exponents (If you are a member could you change it please - if you are not a member, you will not be able to)
An integer is a whole number, positive negative or 0
ALSO
When you ask a question with powers (indices, exponents ) could you please use the 'sup' button that is located above the smilies.
eg

now hit the 'sup' button and the curser will be put exactly where it needs to be, enter -26 or what ever the exponent is, then move the curser to the end and keep going.
Give it a go. It makes your output easier to read and it makes the question less likely to be misinterpreted.
