if i were you, i'd try to learn this because i didn't really understand it and it really made me struggle.....if you are looking for an answer that is. 

try it out,,,,,search some examples up on yt see if it helps you. 

you divide by 2 because the 2 is in your denominator therefore it is a fraction...... 
for example 5 divided by 2 could also be seen as 5 TIMES 1/2 :)
