We're looking for an angle where the sine = (√3)/2

This happens at 60 degrees and at 120 degrees

A more general solution (in degrees) would be..... 60 + n360  and 120 +n360  where n is an integer

In radians, the general solution would be ... pi/3 + n(2pi)   and 2pi/3 + n(2pi)  where n is an integer

We have an angle and its adjacent side...we need to find the opposite side....the tangent function relates these three things

tan(38) = x/28    where x is the flagpole height  ..so...

28tan(38) = 21.88 m

A class has 100 students. There are 3 different room that the students reside in. From 1st Period to 2nd period 1/2 the students from room A move to room B. 1/5 the students in room B move to room C. 1/3 the Students in room C move to room A. How many students are in each room?

So 50 students move to Room B.  And 10 of these move to Room C. But 1/3 of 10 is about 3 (if we round to the nearest whole number).

So there 53 students in A, 40 in B  and 7 in C.

The eighth-grade class has 34 students. The year before, when the students were in seventh grade, there were 25 students.

To see this, we have 

34 = g + 25       subtracting 25 from both sides, we get g = 9

That makes sense, we added 9 students to 25 to get 34

Remember that when we are doing partial derivatives with respect to x, "y" is treated as a constant..

So we can write

(1/y) ( 1 - e^-yx) =  (1/y) - (1/y)e^-yx 

Note that the derivative of the first thing is just 0

The derivative of the second is just  ...   -(1/y)[-y*e^-yx ] = e^-yx  which agrees with your tutor's answer

And taking the derivative of this, we get   -y(e^-yx)  ...which also agrees....

Let's take this step by srep  .... we have  .....

√x +√(x/4) = 30

√x +√(x)/2 = 30       multiply through by 2

2√x +√(x) = 60        subtract √(x)  from both sides

2√(x)  = 60 - √(x)     square both sides

4x  = 3600 - 120√(x)  + x        simplify

120√(x)  = 3600 - 3x         square both sides again

14400x = 12960000 - 21600x + 9x²      simplify again

9x² - 36000x + 12960000 = 0     divide through by 9

x² - 4000x + 1440000   = 0     factor this 

(x-400) (x - 3600) = 0    

So.....x = 400 or x = 3600

Reject 3600 since it makes the original equation untrue

So ...   x = 400 is the only solution

Well...let's see  ......  taking it from here

2304 + 1600 -2(48)(40) cos113  =

3904 - 3840cos(113) = 5404.40753339776

And taking the square root of this we get......

about ...  73.51
